Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence

The Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (CoE AI), National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) has been established to design and develop scalable AI solutions and products for Sustainable cities. In line with the national AI mission, “Make AI in India and Make AI Work for India”, the project envisages designing AI-based solutions with a profound societal impact. NITC has the unique distinction of being the only NIT in the country to be selected as part of the "AI Centres of Excellence (AI CoE), Ministry of Education" initiative.

Sustainable Applications for Mobility, Urban Development, and Resilience using Artificial intelligence (SAMUDRA)

CoE AI - NITC envisions the project as a special-purpose vehicle for creating a positive impact on the lives of our citizens in the context of sustainable cities. In Phase I of the AI Centres of Excellence Initiative, CoE AI - NITC is working on multiple projects under Sustainable Applications for Mobility, Urban Development, and Resilience using Artificial intelligence (SAMUDRA) along with our consortium partners. The project outcomes include developing AI-based solutions that improve disaster preparedness through optimal monitoring of structural health, optimize traffic flow, facilitate intelligent parking and enhance the security of citizens.
