Consortium
Collaborating for Innovation: Together Towards a Smarter Future.
CoE-AI
The Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (CoE AI), National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) has been established to design and develop scalable AI solutions and products.
SAMUDRA PROJECTS
CoE AI - NITC envisions the project as a special-purpose vehicle for creating a positive impact on the lives of our citizens in the context of sustainable cities. In Phase I of the AI Centres of Excellence Initiative, CoE AI - NITC is working on multiple projects under Sustainable Applications for Mobility, Urban Development, and Resilience using Artificial intelligence (SAMUDRA) along with our consortium partners. The project outcomes include developing AI-based solutions that improve disaster preparedness through optimal monitoring of structural health, optimize traffic flow, facilitate intelligent parking and enhance the security of citizens.
Smart Traffic Systems
Optimised design of signals for improved traffic movement A Reinforcement Learning Approach for Urban Traffic Signal Optimization. Utilizing a RL algorithm in an AI system can play a key role in enhancing the efficiency of urban transportation systems.
Smart Security Systems
Proactive approach to prevent crime against people who are travelling alone. Support for Multimodal transport and recommendation of proper modes of travel including the last mile connectivity. Addresses security of vulnerable groups in the society
Smart Decision Support for Disaster Management
AI based Flood susceptibility mapping and an early warning system in a single DSS platform. Proactive Crowd Management DSS using AI based crowd detection, spatial intelligence and agent based simulation. AI based solutions can enhance the disaster preparedness of urban local bodies and help citizens.
Digital Twin for Infrastructure Management
Integration of AI with Digital Twins for advanced Structural Health Monitoring. Offers real time insights, predictive capabilities, and a dynamic feedback loop for optimized performance assessment. Rapid post event recovery in critical infrastructure. Non contact sensing techniques can get high resolution data which can be interpreted for integrity of structures.
Smart Parking Systems
Scalable smart parking management system integrated with parking violations management. Cost effective system architecture and user friendly mobile based application for smart parking. Addresses the parking concerns in the context of sustainable cities.
