Dr. Sujith Mangalathu

Sujith Mangalathu is a researcher in the field of machine learning, graph networks, risk assessment, and disaster management. An alumnus of IIT Madras, he graduated with a Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2017. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed international articles, and is consistently amongst Stanford's top 2% research category list. He was awarded the prestigious VAJRA fellowship by the Department of Science and Technology, India in 2024. In 2026, he was elected as a Fellow of the Indian Society of Earthquake Technology, becoming the youngest recipient of this prestigious honor since its inception in 1962.

He has also received highly cited papers and editorial paper awards from prestigious journals such as Engineering Structures, Journal of Structural Engineering, and Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics. His research interest includes the application of machine learning techniques to support the design and service life management of structural and infrastructure systems. He has developed innovative methods for regional risk assessment using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.
